I started working from home and so far I have a blog and I am not getting consistent traffic. I have the skills to make this work. I can type, write and do more work. Okay, the real reason I am posting this is because tonight I went to a family member’s house for what was supposed to be dinner with both side of my family. It was, I guess you would call it an intervention. They sat there and told me that me wanting to work from home was a huge disappointment to them and that I was ruining my life.
They said there is no growth opportunity and I would never be able to get in a higher position and better myself. I was so disheartened that I left and I still am feeling very upset. Have you ever been criticised for working from home? Anyway working from home is my goal and I am determined to make it work. I would like to hear from you as you make a good income from home and how you do it – Sophie M
I have gotten a lot of grief from family and even neighbours in the past. My neighbours and mum used to always tell me that I was lucky that I didn’t “work a real job” It really did hurt my feelings then because I worked very hard doing what I do. Just because I don’t drive to work doesn’t make it any less work. Turns out those same people would start asking me how much I was making and that I was “lucky”. I think some of the people that criticise us work at home people are jealous that they aren’t one of “us”.
If working from home is what you want to do…..go for it. I don’t know what your reasons are for working from home, but if it feels right now do it and you can always get a different non work at home job in the future if that is what YOU want. Don’t listen to anyone else but your own heart. You know what is best for you and you should do whatever you want… I am stepping off my soapbox now
